SK Food Group assembles millions of custom sandwiches and meals a day. This means it is our responsibility to ensure we are doing this safely and protect our associates, customers, suppliers and the communities where we live and work. As leaders in the industry, we take an active role in scientific testing and food production safety, and we stay engaged with our own team, independent laboratories and consultant groups to stay ahead of the curve.
Our top priority has always been delivering safe, high-quality food products to our customers. How we prepare, handle, store and package these products is guided by strict routines, processes and procedures. We work diligently to maintain excellent food safety ratings and be “audit ready” at any time.
Ensuring the safety and integrity of our products never stops. Food Safety is woven through every fiber and action that we do.
Food Safe Facilities – All our facilities exceed all federal, state, provincial and local regulations Global Food Safety Initiatives (GFSI). This includes:
- Regulatory Partners (FDA, USDA and CFIA) – Our facilities are dual jurisdiction under Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) or Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
- GFSI Certification- SQF – Our SK Food Group facilities, including Buddy’s, Raybern’s, are Safe Quality Food (SQF) 8.1 food safety and quality (previous level 3) certified.
- PCQI and HACCP Certification – We meet the demanding specifications of leading food organizations throughout North America, including personnel at each site who have been trained in Preventive Controls Qualified Individual (PCQI) and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP).
- Ready to Eat Standards– All of our facilities meet regulatory requirements for Ready to Eat standards. Facilities are managed through nightly sanitation and heavy environmental monitoring processes that ensure we stay compliant and world class leaders within the industry.
Safe ingredients – We work with suppliers that align with our values and meet our expectations for responsible and ethical sourcing. These requirements, as well as our suppliers’ commitments to safe and reliable ingredients, are laid out in our Supplier Code of Conduct and Supplier Manual.
Safe Processes – As a pioneer of Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP), we use a controlled mixture of nitrogen and carbon dioxide to extend the shelf life of our fresh products and increase to food safety.
