A Women’s Employee Resource Group Initiative
On August 29, 2024, the SK Food Group made a significant impact on the lives of students at Peralta Elementary in Tolleson, Arizona, through a well-organized school supply drive. The event, spearheaded by the Women’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) at SK Food Group, showcased the company’s commitment to community engagement and education.
The initiative began in 2022 when SK Food Group was looking for ways to provide resources and support programs that we have a close connection in our local communities. As we looked at where our associates come from (live) we noticed that Peralta sits right in the middle of a hot spot. We were certain that a large amount of their students have parents working here at SK Food Group and began an annual “back to school drive” where associates could donate school supplies such as, pencils, printing paper for teachers and other supplies that students could utilize.
In an effort to encourage participation, all associates who donated were automatically entered into a raffle, with the chance to win a smart tv, crock pot set or a Bluetooth speaker This added an element of fun and friendly competition, while also boosting the volume of donations.
The drive highlighted SK Food Group’s dedication in support of local communities and investing in the future of young students. Events like this not only provide immediate assistance to schools but also strengthen the bond between the company and the communities they serve. The initiative by the Women’s ERG is a prime example of how corporate groups can leverage their resources and networks to make a meaningful difference.
As SK Food Group continues to grow, our commitment to community-facing events like this school supply drive is a testament to our values and their vision for a brighter future for all.
